Hello, Fall!

I see you, September! I know a post about fall seems a little premature but I just can’t hold my excitement back. The Fall season definitely provides the best weather for coastal North Carolina. I am looking forward to sunshine with crisp air and leaving the mosquitos behind in the summer smog.

I have already been to Bath & Body Works and purchased my fall candles and bubble bath for the season and I am currently pinning fall recipes and toddler Halloween costumes. Let’s go Fall!

But what is it about Fall that makes people excited and feel so good? It is hygge! I discovered the meaning of this word over the past year and it just totally encompasses my feelings toward the fall season.

Hygge: Danish and Norwegian word which can be described as a quality of cosiness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being.

Start making some Fall plans, here are ours:

  • Violet’s 2nd birthday
  • Pumpkin patch
  • Make s’mores
  • Trick or Treating
  • My sister’s baby shower
  • movies to see IT
  • Renaissance festival
  • Carve pumpkins
  • Make a pie
  • Go to a corn maze
  • Make a leaf mobile and other fall crafts
  • Go on a nature walk

We also have a few home renovation plans for the Fall:

  • Paint kitchen cabinets and hang floating shelves
  • Finish mudroom (click here for our mudroom update part one)
  • Refinish the deck
  • Remodel and update our fireplace and mantel

Other things I am looking forward to:

expanding my collection of scarves and booties, reading lots of books, lazy Sundays, endless soup recipes, a new throw for the couch (loving this one), scary movies, and PUMPKIN SEEDS.

How do you celebrate the change in season and what are you most looking forward to this fall?

  1. Fall is my favorite time of year. Bath and Body Works smell so much like fall when you walk into the store. We are working on accomplishing much on your list of fall activities.

  2. I’m right there with you anxiously awaiting fall to fully arrive. I love fall. To me, it means trips to apple orchards, cider mills, and pumpkin patches. It’s Halloween parties, football tailgates, and Thanksgiving feasts. It’s changing colors and cooler temperatures. I’m so excited to wear boots, sweaters, scarves, and leather jackets again. I also love the pumpkin and apple flavored desserts and pastries of this season, Oh, and soup!

    1. Love Charleston! I am in Wilmington. I know you can relate to the excitement I feel for the change in weather and saying goodbye to the humidity! Summers can be brutal.
